Daily Minyan

What a perfect way to start the day – prayer, contemplation and social interaction! According to Jewish tradition, it is forbidden to live in a town that does not have a doctor or a daily prayer quorum. This emphasis teaches us the sanctity of our physical and our spiritual well-being. Temple Beth Sholom is proud that its egalitarian minyan meets every day, 365 days a year.

The people who comprise our minyan range from those observing yahrzeit or the year of mourning for a parent, to those "regulars" who carve time from their daily routine to commune with God and other members of our community.

Our morning minyan is conducted in a friendly atmosphere that makes everyone feel comfortable, from the highly experienced to the beginner. This daily prayer service offers a valuable respite from the worries and pressures of the world. It also can provide time for self-reflection. Even if you have never worn a tallit (prayer shawl) or tefillin (prayer boxes) or you are unfamiliar with the prayers, we will help you feel at ease. Give yourself a gift and join us. It is time well spent.

A true community resource, Temple Beth Sholom is one of the few consistent minyans in Southwest Florida. Join us every morning except Shabbat and Jewish holidays at 8:00 a.m. in the Band-Desenberg Memorial Chapel.

Under the auspices of the Men’s Club, a breakfast is served every Wednesday morning after the daily minyan. Congregants can sponsor a breakfast as well. To arrange the sponsorship of a Wednesday morning breakfast, please contact Ben Berman at (941) 355-2469.

Shabbat

Kabbalat Erev Shabbat Service, 6:30 PM, followed by an Oneg

Shabbat Morning Service, 9:00 AM, followed by a Kiddish Lunch

Our Friday Night services welcome the Shabbat through a combination of holiness, spirit, prayers, singing and learning that last about an hour. The service begins at 6:30 pm, and is followed by an Oneg Shabbat where congregants have the opportunity to socialize.

Shabbat morning service begins at 9:00 am and may include participation by B’nai Mitzvah students, individuals with special simchas or guest lecturers. The service consists of three parts: Shaharit, the Torah Service and Musaf. The entire service typically lasts about two-and-a-half hours. The congregation is led by Rabbi Michael Werbow along with a core of talented congregants, including several retired cantors. Following the service, everyone is invited to join the sit-down Kiddish luncheon with the entire Temple Beth Sholom community.

We are blessed to have a strong corps of committed individuals who read Torah for our congregation. If you would like to join this group of dedicated volunteers, click here to sign up at Web Parasha.
